The Tap™ platform empowers consumers - providing innovative new ways to connect with merchants, brands, content providers, financical institutions and others.
App Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Requires iPhone OS 4.0 or later. WiFi, Edge, or 3G network connection sometimes required.
For security and convenience, we're migrating away from the pervasive magstripe commonly found on payment and loyalty cards - towards a more secure, flexible and powerful technology based on silicon processors and short-range wireless communications.
Near Field Communications (NFC) allows two electronic devices to 'pair' and share information with a simple tap. These devices could be:
The number of smart phones equipped with NFC is small, but growing quickly. In the coming years, this feature will become standard.
In the meantime, almost all smart phones are already equipped with high resolution cameras and color touchscreens. This provides the opportunity to transfer data between devices using barcode technology. Increasingly, QR codes are being used to encode information such as telephone numbers, account numbers, website URLs, virtual business cards and more.
Barcodes can be generated at little to no cost. Account numbers, coupons, tickets and boarding passes can be transmitted directly to mobile phones where they can be dynamically encoded into barcodes and presented on high resolution screens.
The smart phone and technologies such as NFC and QR codes help us to accomplish everyday tasks in new and innovative ways. For example, let's pay our restaurant bill with no cards or cash using a TapBase patent-pending system:

We're putting the final touches on the TapWallet iOS app and are aiming for a mid-July release. Many thanks to all our beta testers! We'll be sending out more information to you about hardware dongles shortly.
In a word, awesome!! Can't wait until the system goes live.
- P. R.The barcode scanner is extremely useful. I find myself scanning things just for the fun of it.
- S. S.I won't be leaving my wallet at home any time soon. But with apps like this it's certainly a step in that direction.
- J. W.Works great. When can I show it off to my friends? lol
- K. C.Our plan is to bring Tap online over the Summer (2011). The TapWallet app is undergoing final testing and we hope to make it available in the App Store shortly.
Thanks for the offer, but we already have more than enough beta testers at this time. We have plans in the works for other products and will be on the lookout for more beta testers towards the end of the year.
Absolutely. It's on the roadmap. And we'd like to see what great ideas other developers come up with for the platform.
The first app will be available for the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch because we're big fans of the platform. Some work has been done on Android, particularly with respect to NFC, and we will continue to allocate resources when available.
